Adoption Process

We have been adopting out dogs for decades and have found it necessary to lay out the following guidelines. This helps us to get a better insight into you and your family and to determine which dog would be best for all involved. Most if not all, of your questions about adoption, should be able to be answered here.

We don’t mean to insult anyone or invade anyone’s privacy, but judging from experience, these questions we ask on our adoption application are necessary. If you choose not to answer any one of the following questions, please feel free to ask us about it and we will be more than happy to explain the necessity of that particular question.

FEES/COSTS

  • Our adoption counselors spend HOURS AND DAYS, interviewing adoption candidates and spending countless amounts of time trying to pair up the right dog for your family so PLEASE make sure you are seriously and currently interested in adopting. We do not process applications for “the future”
  • Our adoption fee is $50 For your adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, heartworm free and receive a FREE “congratulations on your new dog” training/behavioral session via phone or Zoom. The adoption fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • Once we receive your application, if it is approved at the preliminary stage, one of our adoption counselors will make contact with you and ask for information about your yard, landlord (if applicable), etc. Please be patient as this process can take some days
  • The next stage of the adoption process is to match you up with the right dog and one of our other adoption counselors will spend quite a bit of time with you, sometimes requiring multiple phone calls, etc. BE PATIENT!!! We take pride in our thorough the adoption process and we want this to be FOREVER!

HOW THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORKS

  • I cannot stress this enough. We are thorough. We are understanding. We want what’s best for our dogs and also what’s best for you. We get adoption applications from all over the country. Sadly most are just from people who are not eligible enough and want to adopt some sort of “trophy dog” from us. Unfortunately, it is very time-consuming for us to go through all of these applications to finally find a good one. All we ask is that you be patient and understand that we are doing this because we love our dogs that much. And when you adopt a dog from Love Lead Rescue, you will have a support system for a lifetime. Once a Love Lead Rescue dog, always a Love Lead Rescue dog!
